Team Millenium/IRSA
Terry Zmrhal and Tracy McKay
We headed across Kansas and then picked up I-35
south planning to intercept the race in Perry, OK. We made good
time and actually needed backtrack on route to the previous time
station in Lahoma.

James is taking advantage of time to sleep before we take over
for nightshift duties when we rejoin the race.

We came into Lahoma, just before the tandem team of George Thomas
and Terri Gooch. We had a chance to chat with their crew for a
while, and then offer them encouragement when they arrived.
James and I jumped back into Zephyr and sent his
well deserving crew off for some sleep. This crew of four - Sharon,
Chris, Michael and Philip had kept these guys moving for over
a day with half a crew. Before departing we had a big group hug
- with everyone happy to be back together and happy that everyone
was safe. While the accident was certainly not a good thing, it
did help refocus us, and give us a rallying point.

Things were getting toasty in Oklahoma, and Terry was taking the
minimalistic approach - just sunscreen!

We arranged another sleep break up the road. Sharon was now on
dayshift, but interrupted her sleep to do two massages. Sharon
had also become crew chief at this point, and was under serious
stress and getting less sleep than anyone. But she handled it
with grace.

Terry was finally starting to get some sleep - a week into the
race, and rose this morning pretty groggy. He asked for a no-doz,
and I turned him down. I worried that it would keep him from sleeping
later. It was just getting light, and I knew he'd start to revive
with daylight. I suggested doing morning things like shaving and
brushing his teeth. These are old military tricks for convincing
yourself it is a new day, and it worked. From this point on, Terry
slept almost everytime he laid down!

We were entering catfish country, and the Egrets like them almost
as much as I do. Unfortunately I couldn't convince my fellow crew
members to stop for a catfish fryup!
