Pamela was born and raised in North Carolina.
She has also lived in Atlanta and the Boston area in the US,
as well as a couple of years in Nelson in New Zealand. She's
calls Boston home now.
Pamela has always ridden a bike, but it became
a way of life in the mid 80's, when she took up long distance
bike riding. She completed the first Boston-Montreal-Boston
in 1988. She's done a few more BMBs since as well as a couple
of PBPs. She has completed both rides on both single and tandem
bikes.
Pamela also commutes to work year round, but
does possess a driver's license and does occasionally drive
a car.
She enjoys fully-supported and self-supported
touring, and cannot pass a coffee shop without stopping. (We
call this affliction coffee shop constipation - the inability
to pass a coffee shop.) This was the excuse she used for not
racing! Of course in New Zealand, it's rare to find a coffee
shop on a race route, and she indeed raced a few times there.
Pamela loves tandeming, and used one to hook
John. She's also quite fond of cats and is happy to provide
a lap for one whenever she can.
She has ridden between 10,000 and 14,000 miles
per year for the last 20 years.
Shared pain is lessened, shared joy is
increased.
Thus we refute entropy.
