Chateau de MiolansWe stopped at a hotel not too far from that chateau up on the hill we had seen on the way up. I found a flyer indicating it was open to the public. It was the Chateau de Miolans. It had been used as a prison at times, and its most famous guest was the Marquis de Sade. The climb up to the castle was one of the toughest of the trip.
The rpison had several levels depending on the severity of your punishment. The upper level had a large window (and a lovely view).
Looking down to where we rode up from!
The second level down has a much smaller window. The lowest level had no light at all.
The roof top gardens were very nice and inviting.
